Ready for Eternity

Everton Wellington and Christina Li

The book of Revelation is known as the book of prophecy, the Revelation of Jesus Christ, something that is unveiled, something that is made known. John was banished to the Isle of Patmos where he was given this revelation. He was there for the Word of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ. He had an experience where he saw God Himself in the personality of Jesus Christ. He said, ‘I am the Alpha and the Omega. I am the beginning and the end. I am He which was dead and is now alive.’

John said, ‘When I saw this, I fell down as I was dead.’ He was slain in the Spirit.

When you come into contact with Jesus Christ, something happens. It’s different since Jesus saved my soul since He cleansed and made me whole. Your very walk, your very talk changes.

John said, ‘I was dead.’ He became a different person. He had a new revelation of who Jesus was.

How has your life changed since you came into contact with Jesus?

A lot of people say, ‘God, God, God.’ You can talk about God and know about Him without knowing Him. They have a form of godliness but deny the true power thereof. A form will not do. That’s why it’s important to know that you must be a possessor of the Holy Ghost. When you have the Holy Ghost, you have the revelation of Jesus Christ, Who He is.

You can’t live any way you want to because the Bible declares you to be a royal priesthood, a holy nation. You are different. This is what God says you are. You can’t act as the world acts or speak as the world speaks. You have had an encounter with God.

There was a young man that I taught in Sunday School. He is now backslidden and just has a form. It will not work.

Isaiah the prophet had an encounter with God.

Isaiah 6:1,5 “In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.” 5 “So I said: ‘Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The Lord of hosts.’”

John 5:39 “You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.”

The Word of God is like a mirror, but a mirror isn’t there to condemn you. It is there to help you get cleaned up what needs to be cleaned up.

How does the Word of God help you to get cleaned up? How can it change your life?

In order to travel, you must have many checks, I.D, passport, etc. Are you ready for eternity? Why are you questioning your salvation? Why are you doubting? You need to get right. The devil wants to play around, but you need to stop playing. What does the Word say? Be ready!

2 Chron 32:7 “Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed before the king of Assyria, nor before all the multitude that is with him; for there are more with us than with him.”

God has given us the power over fear.

2 Tim 1:7 “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

James 1:8 “A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.”

You can’t have your way and God’s way at the same time. You’ve got to give Him all. It’s Jesus or nothing.

Are you double minded in your thinking? What do you need to do to change that? How does knowing what God’s Word says change the way you think?

As long as you’re alive, you’re going to have trouble.

Job 14:1 “Man who is born of woman is of few days and full of trouble.”

You have trouble, but you have Jesus!

Sometimes, you can see only one step at a time. Yet, Jesus is still there. Jesus will relieve your troubled mind. Only Jesus can truly help and deliver you.

Get out of selfish. There is no need for strife. Strife deprives you of the blessing that God wants to give you. Some people have nice things, but they’re not better than you. God wants you to be unified with the body of Christ. If the devil can keep us divided, revival can’t happen.

What thinking patterns do you have in your life that you need to change? Is there strife in your life? What can you do to change that?

John 14:12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.”

It’s very significant that we are called to start 7 churches. There are 7 pastors, but they are asleep. In order to see who you are, rise up and do what God is calling you to do. Get up. Don’t wait for someone else to carry the burden. You do your part.

God said, ‘I know your works.’ (Rev 2:2)

God has good plans for you, but will you pursue what He wants you to pursue? Do you know what He wants you to do? What is holding you back from doing it?

Beware that you don’t lie to the Holy Ghost. Ananias and Sapphira lied not only to Peter but to the Holy Ghost. Be careful of who you’re hooked up with, who you’re close to. Why be in agreement with lies? God is a consuming fire. He is dreadful and terrible. You don’t want to see that side of Him! He is the same God that burned up Sodom and Gomorrah.

What are your motives and agenda when you come to the house of God? When we come together, we must come to worship Him, not with any hidden agenda of your own. Don’t undermine the progress of the ministry with your own agenda.

The Bible says, ‘He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the church.’

If you are here today as a visitor and God has spoken to your heart, give your life to Him before it’s too late. If you are here today and you’re not sure that you possess the Holy Ghost, wake up, trim your lamp, get enough oil because the Bridegroom is going to come. The ten women were all virgins, but you must have enough oil to meet the Bridegroom. No one can check it for you. No one can give you theirs. You have to go get your own. Get it now before it’s too late or the Bridegroom might come while you’re seeking your oil.

Heaven is for everybody, whosoever will. Live for Jesus and you’ll get there. Do what you need to do to get there. If you’re afraid you won’t make it, do what you need to do to get there. Hell was not made for man. It is for the fallen angels and the devil. Because of the sinfulness of man, hell has opened her mouth a little wider. You don’t have to go to hell.

If you want to be blessed, start loving somebody. Pray for one another. Bless somebody.

Be specific in your prayers. Don’t just say, ‘Pray for me.’ Be specific in your requests. Tell Him what you need, what you want. Stop complaining. Ask, seek, knock. Prayer must be specific. Tell God what you need and He will provide. Don’t tell people, tell Jesus. Tell Him all of your trials. You weren’t meant to bear all these burdens alone.

This year, you will be bigger and better. Get everything you need in Jesus name! He is your Father and He is rich.

What changes would you like to see in your life this year? What changes would you like to see in yourself this year? What are you going to do to make that happen? What disciplines do you need in order to see those changes take place?
